The Knesset House Committee approved the proposal of its Chairman, MK Ofir Katz (Likud), for the composition of the 12 permanent Knesset committees and their Chairpersons. The proposal, which was approved unanimously, placed MK Ayman Odeh, leader of Hadash-Ta’al and former head of the Joint List, as the Chairman of the Science and Technology Committee. Mk Odeh is the only Palestinian Arab representative to chair one of the permanent committees in the Knesset. The committee decided that 8 of the 12 permanent committees will be chaired by Knesset Members from the coalition and 4 from the opposition.

Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee: MK Simcha Rothman (Religious Zionism)
Internal Affairs and Environment Committee: MK Ya’akov Asher (United Torah Judaism)
Labor and Welfare Committee: MK Israel Eichler (United Torah Judaism)
Education, Culture, and Sports Committee: MK Yosef Taib (Shas)
Committee for Immigration, Absorption, and Diaspora Affairs: Oded Forer (Yisrael Beiteinu) State Control Committee: Mickey Levy (Yesh Atid)
Science and Technology Committee: MK Ayman Odeh (Hadash-Ta’al)
Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality: MK Pnina Tamano-Shata (National Unity Party)
No names were submitted for approval to chair the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and Economic Affairs Committee.
